Which products are covered by the warranty?

This warranty applies to products of the travelite brand, provided that a travelite warranty is specified for the product in question. For accessories, electronic components, batteries, rechargeable batteries, cables, adaptors or similar parts, this manufacturer’s warranty applies only if this is expressly stated for the product in question. Your statutory warranty rights vis-à-vis the seller remain unaffected.

Who is eligible for the warranty?

The travelite warranty applies to the original purchaser or first user of the product. If you received the product as a gift, you can also claim under the warranty provided you present valid proof of the original purchase. Acceptable proof includes, in particular, an invoice, a receipt or a similar proof of purchase showing the date of purchase, the retailer and the product. The warranty begins on the date of the original new purchase. Transferring, reselling or purchasing a second-hand product does not restart the warranty period and may invalidate the warranty if no valid proof of the original new purchase is provided.

Duration of the warranty

The travelite warranty begins on the date of the original purchase. The warranty period specified for the relevant product, as stated on the product page and in the warranty information supplied with the product, shall apply. Please keep your proof of purchase in a safe place. It forms the basis for assessing any warranty claim.

What the warranty covers

The travelite warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. In the event of a valid warranty claim, travelite will, following an assessment of the individual case, decide whether to repair the product, replace it with an equivalent or comparable product, or offer another appropriate solution (for example, by providing a spare part). Should an identical product, colour or spare part no longer be available, travelite may offer a comparable product or spare part. The warranty cover is always limited to the travelite product in question.

What is not covered by the warranty

The warranty does not cover damage or alterations unless these are attributable to a material or manufacturing defect. This includes, in particular, normal signs of wear and tear such as scratches, dents, scuff marks, stains, colour changes, patina, as well as visual wear and tear on prints, decorative elements, coatings, surfaces or similar design features resulting from use, provided that the functional usability of the item is not significantly impaired.

Also excluded from cover is damage caused by improper use, overloading, use for purposes other than those intended, falls, accidents, crushing, severe external impact, transport or handling by third parties, in particular by airlines, rail, bus, shipping or other transport operators, moisture, extreme temperatures, chemicals, improper cleaning, unauthorised repairs, alterations or modifications, as well as normal wear and tear of wear-and-tear parts, provided there is no material or manufacturing defect. The warranty does not cover damage to the contents of the luggage or any other consequential damage, to the extent permitted by law.

Damage in transit

Please always check your luggage as soon as possible after every journey, particularly immediately after collection. This is because damage caused by transport or third-party handling is generally not covered by the warranty, as it is attributable to improper handling. You should therefore always report such damage immediately and directly to the relevant carrier or party responsible, and obtain written confirmation of the damage. If it is unclear whether damage was caused by transport or by a material or manufacturing fault, your retailer or travelite can investigate the matter. It is usually still possible to make a retrospective claim with the carrier within a certain period after the journey.

The quickest way to get help: your retailer

In the event of a complaint or warranty claim, please contact the retailer from whom you purchased your travelite product in the first instance. This is usually the quickest and easiest way. Our retailers are familiar with the products, have experience in carrying out an initial assessment of damage and can often immediately determine whether a repair is possible, a spare part is available or another solution is appropriate. Minor servicing work can often be carried out on the spot or arranged quickly. Our retail partners also have well-established communication, service and logistics channels with travelite. This usually means your enquiry can be assessed and resolved more quickly. Your statutory rights vis-à-vis the retailer remain unaffected. Should it not be possible to resolve the matter via the retailer, you are of course welcome to contact travelite directly.

Procedure in the event of a warranty claim

Please proceed as follows in the event of a warranty claim:

1. First contact the retailer from whom you purchased the product.
2. Have your proof of purchase ready or, in the case of gifts, proof of the original new purchase.
3. Provide the product name, series and, if available, the item number. You will find the item details inside your product on a sticker or tag.
4. Describe the damage as precisely as possible and attach meaningful photos.
5. State the country in which the product is currently located.
6. Only send in the product if you have been asked to do so by the retailer or by travelite.
7. Wait for feedback on the further process.

The clearer and more complete the information, the faster your enquiry can be assessed.

Geographical scope and processing abroad

The travelite warranty applies to products for which a travelite warranty is specified and which were purchased via travelite or an official travelite distribution partner that sells travelite products. Practical warranty processing is possible in countries where travelite has retailers, distribution partners or service facilities. If the product is located in a country without a travelite sales or service infrastructure, we will of course assess your enquiry. However, a repair, spare parts supply, assessment or other local processing cannot be guaranteed there. Following an assessment of the individual case, travelite will decide whether a solution is possible and via which processing route. It may be necessary to transport the product to the original retailer, to a service centre designated by travelite or to another processing location specified by travelite.

Postage and transport costs

In the event of a valid warranty claim, travelite will cover the costs of the authorised repair or confirmed replacement solution. You bear the costs of bringing the product to the retailer, the designated service centre or another specified processing location, in particular packaging, postage, transport, insurance, customs duties, taxes and charges. Return shipping to you within the country in which the repair is carried out is free of charge. You bear any costs for return shipping to another country, as well as customs duties, taxes or charges.

This cost arrangement applies exclusively to claims made under the travelite manufacturer’s warranty. Your statutory rights against the seller, including any statutory claims for reimbursement of costs, remain unaffected.

Repairs outside the warranty

Even if there is no warranty claim or the warranty period has expired, we are happy to try to help. Many travelite products can be repaired, provided suitable spare parts are available and a repair is technically feasible. In such cases too, please first contact your retailer or get in touch with travelite using the contact options provided on our website.

Finally...

Repairs, replacement deliveries, the provision of spare parts or other services under this manufacturer’s warranty do not result in a restart or extension of the warranty period. The warranty period applicable to the product originally purchased, calculated from the date of the original new purchase, remains decisive. Your statutory rights against the seller remain unaffected.

The production of travelite products is subject to constant controls. The respective raw materials and accessories are also strictly checked before they are used. However, should you have any reason to complain about a travelite product, please note the following:

The travelite warranty period is 2-3 years, depending on the product (please refer to the respective warranty card for details) and is subject to the following conditions:

Only material defects and defects caused by poor workmanship can be claimed.

Damage caused by improper handling, overloading, accidents, acids/chemical solvents, extreme temperatures, water, normal wear and tear due to use, or improper transport by third parties, etc. can understandably not be recognised.

In the case of defective goods, there is a right of complaint within the legally prescribed deadlines.

A warranty card is integrated into the product tag of the travelite products. The completed, stamped warranty card, together with the receipt, serves as proof of purchase for the warranty and must be retained. If no warranty card was attached to the product in question, only the receipt serves as proof of purchase for the warranty.

During the warranty period, your specialist dealer is your point of contact in the event of damage. They will be able to solve your problems. For organisational reasons, complaints must be processed via the retailer. If you have any questions, you can of course also contact our head office directly using our contact form. We will be happy to deal with your problem and find a satisfactory solution.

We would like to give you the following recommendations: After every journey, check all your luggage for damage immediately at baggage reclaim (if necessary before passing through customs). If you discover any damage in transit, make a complaint immediately verbally and in writing to the information desk of your carrier (airline, shipping company, coach operator, etc.) and have this damage confirmed in writing. If you report any damage immediately to the responsible carrier, you can generally expect a quick and generous settlement. In order to successfully assert your claims, your friendly dealer will certainly also help you with the preparation of an expert opinion/cost estimate. If possible, take out additional baggage insurance.
